Welcome to The Sustainable Journaling Workshop

Goal: each participant creates a sustainable journaling practice.

Objectives:

  • To show up at the fourth and last session having completed four weeks’ worth of entries.

  • Learn and practice simple yet effective habit-building strategies.

  • Experiment with different ways of writing a journal entry .

Here are four things you can do to get us off off to a great start.

1) If you haven’t already, start thinking of a way of writing that you feel comfortable using as you start journaling. This can be a notebook, app, word-processing software (Pages, Google Docs, etc.). What you use to write can be changed or adapted as you develop your practice.

2) So that we can all show up at the last session with four weeks of entries, write entries for the six days previous to the first session. This entries can be just the day and date, leaving one or two lines of space if you don’t remember anything about that day. (“I don’t know what I did on that day - I probably worked” is a valid entry. You can also write a news headline or insert or describe a photo you took on that day.)

Session 1: we join the session with one weeks’ worth of entries

Session 2: “ two weeks’ worth of entries

Session 3: “ three weeks’ worth of entries

Session 4: we join the session having completed a month’s worth of entries

3) Think of an experience you want to remember forever that you’ll feel comfortable sharing with the group during the first session.

4) Please bring something to write/type on that isn’t your journal for a writing exercise.

Feel free to email me with any questions. Looking forward to sharing this experience with you!
